Electrical Systems Lead
Primary Function
Lead Electrical Engineering team to create electrical systems for PR2 and future robots. Lead team from new product creation through low-volume production and maintenance phases.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage electrical engineering team to hit development targets reliably
- Manage development process to ensure high-quality output from the complete team
- Responsibility for full-system integration issues such as flexible wire harness specification, full system noise management, and full system power-load management
- Help manage vendor relationships and inventory management to support low-volume production
- Drive architecture and electrical systems design direction of future robots developed at Willow Garage
Skill / Job Requirements
- 5+ years managing electrical engineering team in product development environment from new-product creation through production and maintenance phases
- Demonstrated design judgement and ability to make development trade-offs taking into account all available information
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively
- Demonstrated ability to hire top-quality electrical engineers and train new hires
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent documentation skills
- Experience with project planning and schedule estimation
- Strong understanding of power electronics, motors and motor control, wire harnesses, battery systems, FPGA development, and communication buses, and system noise behaviour.
- Significant experience with complex mixed-signal systems with many components
- Fluency with modern schematic and layout design tools (Altium Designer preferred)
